Every time another year comes to a close, the staff at PHMG unite to break yet another fundraising record for the PHMG Foundation. And though 2020 presented a number of new challenges, we’re proud to say it didn’t change this heart-warming tradition.
The holiday season can be a difficult time for many – this year more than ever before – so we launched a dedicated campaign to help those who needed it most. Inspired by Marcus Rashford and his drive to make a difference during this important time, we decided to roll our chosen charities into next year and focus on launching our first 100,000 meals appeal. This meant that all the money raised over the holidays would be donated directly to charities focused on helping end hunger across the globe – FareShare, Action for Children, the Greater Chicago Food Depository and SOS Children’s Villages Illinois – and PHMG pledged to triple every pound and dollar raised to make sure we could really make a difference.
Every member of PHMG dug deep, and inspired others to support such an important cause. And the fundraising continued
with the Santa Dash; a highlight of our holiday calendar, where staff, family and friends across the UK, North America and
Australia get together to run 5k in Santa suits. While distancing meant the usual plans weren’t possible, we still played our part
by hosting a virtual event – sharing photos of everyone running locally, giving prizes out to the first three past the finish line,
and keeping everyone connected via social media. The day was a huge success and made an incredible contribution to our
meals appeal, but we didn’t stop there.
To continue spreading joy over the festive season, we also ran PHMG’s annual Toy Drive. Employees both in the office and
working from home donated toys to Camp Simcha in Manchester – a charity dedicated to sending gifts to children in local
hospitals – and SOS Children’s Villages Illinois in Chicago to help make Christmas extra special for foster families. While
generosity is characteristic of the team at PHMG during the holidays, there’s been something especially rewarding about
seeing everyone’s continued support this year.
Thanks to the generosity of our staff, friends and family, we were incredibly proud to achieve a final total of over 174,000 meals. This donation will go to Action for Children, SOS Children's Villages Illinois, Greater Chicago Food Depository and FareShare UK, feeding people in need across the globe.
2020 has been tough for everyone, but our support has made a difficult year a little brighter for the children and families that need it most. We once again showed what’s possible when we work together for a great cause. If you’d like to play your part, there’s still time; please click here to make a donation.
